they did it! the spurs did it!
for those who've been living inside a cave, the san antonio spurs are on top of the basketball world again after winning the 2005 nba finals against the defending champs, i mean, the then-defending champs the detroit pistons... the spurs win game 7 against the pistons, 81-74, winning the finals series, 4-3, and thus winning their third nba championship in the past 7 seasons...
tim duncan (above), who was voted as finals mvp, stepped up big especially in the 4th quarter in probably his biggest game of his career, scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds...
duncan also got some help from robert horry and argentinian manu ginobili... horry scored 15 points off the bench and collected his sixth championship, while ginobili scored 23 points, 11 of them coming in the final ten minutes...
about duncan's game 7 performance, former spur teammate david robinson said, "he showed that he can not only deal with that pressure, but overcome it. a lot of athletes would have crumbled under that type of pressure, but he came out in that second half and showed unbelievable championship character. i'm so proud of him because he just really solidified himself as one of the top couple of power forwards ever. i mean, unbelievable character -- just awesome."
the admiral couldn't have said it better...
congratulations to the san antonio spurs!

i remember after the pistons' game 6 victory, my friend jeffrey sent me a text message, saying "what did i tell ya? big flop rob!"...
well, i texted him back, saying "spurs will win game 7, MARK MY WORD!"
and you know what? i wasn't sure if the spurs would win, coz seriously, the pistons are one helluva team...
but thank god i was right... duncan showed why he's one of the best basketball players in the world...
but my hats off to both the spurs and the pistons for giving us one thrilling finals series... for me, they're both champs in my book...
in my opinion, that's one of the best game 7's i've ever witnessed, and the spurs victory made it a lot more sweeter... boy, oh boy, i could hear those spurs haters and pistons fans going "b-b-b-b-bullshit" after seeing the pistons lose! hahahaha!
by the way, mark's birthday is today... we're going to forbest grill in malate... it's his treat, syempre! woohoo!
