anyways, this also marks the day two years ago when former new york jets quarterback joe namath (left) made that "move" on espn sideline reporter suzy kolber (right)during a saturday night football game between the new england patriots and the new york jets...
televised on national tv (well, if you have cable, which we do), namath, who had a couple of drinks and looked intoxicated prior to the interview, was asked by kolber about what the jets' struggles meant to him, and he replied:
"i want to kiss you"
he then said it a second time about 10-15 seconds later, and kolber had to cut her interview short and sent it back to the espn booth...
here's a transcript of what happened on that saturday night:
-----
Suzy Kolber: "Joe, it's been a tough season for Jet fans.. what does it mean to you now when the team is struggling?"
Joe Namath: "I wanna kiss you... (pause) I couldn't care less about the team struggling. What we know is... we can improve. Chad missed, Chad Pennington, our quarterback, missed the first part of the season and we struggled... we're looking to next season, we're looking to make (uh...) noise now and... I Wanna kiss you!
Suzy Kolber: speaking over Namath, who continues to ramble (below) "Thanks Joe, I'll take it as huge compliment. Joe Namath, part of the 4 decade team. We'll see these guys at halftime."
Joe Namath: "YEAHHHH! well you know what, this is the all-time ......"
Mike Patrick: Alright (laughing) thanks Suzy.
Joe Theismann: Joe's just a happy guy.
Mike Patrick: Is he?
Joe Theismann: He's just a happy guy.
Paul Maguire: oh BOY is he happy.

a few days later, namath apologized, and kolber accepted, and they've moved on... but that moment right there was an instant classic!

which makes me wonder a while ago... when would we see a drunk philippine basketball legend (say ramon fernandez or robert jaworski) doing a "namath" on a courtside reporter (say janelle so, reema chanco, or george rocha)?
coz i'm telling you... THAT would be funny... and i know funny!
